Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: out of the Shadows: Review

Ninja turtles today, perhaps, are the most deprived of attention to the heroes of comics. While the Batmen, Spider-Man and other citizens every year bathe in the rays of fame, four repenters are content with rare low-budget crafts of dubious quality. The latter more or less noticeable event in the Gamer world happened in 2007, when TMNT was based on the full-length cartoon of the same name. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: out of the Shadows, like a small insect, crept up to the date of its release quietly and imperceptibly. And the name of the developer studio Red Fly No healthy associations are caused, which, of course, is not very encouraging.

We are not miserable bugs

The plot of the game tells about the next large-scale

war between the four mutated turtles and the villain of the Schereder. Everything is familiar: our heroes live in a refuge equipped in the depths of the sewer with all the amenities of civilization. Under the leadership of the proprietor of Splinter, the guys improve their skills and absorb pizza. Sometimes friends are visited by a wonderful journalist April.

A misfortune happened to her-once the girl did not answer the call of Donatello. Turtles blame Schroeder in everything and go to find out relations with the enemy, and at the same time reduce the number of his robotic and trained troops trained and trained in martial arts.

The authors did not bother very much about the videos and decided to do with little blood: the main part of the plot events is presented through the artistic processes interrupting the gaming process made in the comic book style. They are drawn simply, without special artistic claims – images are very similar to each other and have nothing to do with bright original comics. It seems that their goal seems to take time, and not convey the essence of what is happening.

Superninja-chraopashki

Gameplay in the best traditions of all games about turtles is reduced to endless hand -to -hand fights. They killed a dozen ninja in one room – welcome to another. And so to the end of the level where the fat “boss” will meet us, which will demonstrate the entire bottomless depth of the local AI. If you are not playing in cooperative mode with friends, then there is only one turtle under your control, while the rest is led by a computer. Before meeting with Boss, their behavior does not cause special complaints. Yes, somewhere Michelangelo will take his nose into the wall, somewhere Donatello will think about the eternal, but in general these tricks are tolerant, because we can always do dirty work for their partners. But when coordinated actions are required from the turtles, nothing can be done. Instead of carefully attacking a huge iron cerberus, the boobs rushed to him in a fit of collective insanity and die together. But dealing with a giant alone, believe me, it is very difficult.

But our colleagues are able to scratch their tongue excellently. Throughout the level, the dialogs between mutants do not stop. They discuss everything from the murdered enemy, ending alone in the sewer with pizza. At first, humor and the characters of the turtles are amusing in dialogs. But when the same remarks are repeated dozens of times, nothing but irritation does not cause.

Does not suffer from diversity and location design. We will spend most of the time in dark sewers and gloomy tunnels. The developers tried to dilute the despondency by New York streets and roofs, but the atmosphere is the same everywhere-we move along narrow corridors upholstered by monotonous textures.

Moreover, a sense of stiffness of movements arises primarily not because of the lack of space. The problem is that any methods of interaction with the environment are crepted and are carried out in specially prepared places for this. That is, jumping to the roof you like or climb into the pipe we will not succeed – neither a free parkour, nor the minimum degree of freedom here, alas, is not. Turtles are born to crawl, not fly, and Out of the Shadows Constantly reminds of this.

The shell is worn like shirts

The main and only advantage of the game is the combat system. In general, its logic resembles the last parts Batman, but differs from them by some details. We also peremptorly chop the opponents, using counterattacks in time and stuffing computers to perform special techniques. After a successful ten -manual ligament, we can slap a super -playuit that sends the majority of the enemy to the knockout. During the battles, it is allowed to switch between the turtles in order to make longer combinations. But if in the “Arkham” games one button is enough to perform stunningly spectacular movements, then here the combat system offers about five active strokes, which, of course, develop in a countless chains.

Given the fact that a unique animation has been created for the actions of each turtle, it is easy to imagine how beautiful and diverse local fights look like. Leonardo deftly waving swords, Raphael crushes reptiles by sami, Michelangelo wields nunchaki, and Donatello masterfully owns the staff. Between the missions, we get access to the “upgrade” of our turtles, each of which has its own skills of their own skills. Glasses earned during the assignment can be invested at your discretion-evenly distributed between all the heroes or give preference to someone alone.

For some reason, the developers decided to diversify the completely useless elements of Stlace for a muzzle. When pressing a certain key, the turtles cribe and begin to move with a gouck. The control settings indicate that this action is called the transition to the secrecy mode, but nothing more confirms this fact. The fact is that we may imperceptibly “sneak up” to a lonely enemy and we can gallop. At the same time, often the opponent suddenly takes out the swords and rushes at us, despite the fact that the turtles were not made of sound, getting to it. However, even if the detection system worked decently, the size of the levels, a huge number of enemies, and the logic of gameplay itself completely meaning a similar “stealth”.

As a result, we did not receive a surprise for lovers of turtles. Out of the Shadows – An ordinary second -rate product, an unfortunate child of the studio with a small budget and experience. It is not remembered by anything, but not bad battles are able to steal a couple of hours of life. If you are yearning for times when nothing was required of the games except gameplay, which consists in the constant beating of enemies, then the “turtles” have a chance to like.

Pros: spectacular contractions;the ability to switch between heroes.
Cons: mediocre presentation of the plot in the form of comics;useless stealth; The dullness of locations;repeated dialogs;annoying music.
